Importance of Animal Welfare
Did you know that many animal welfare laws have specific exemptions that apply to agriculture, taking all farm animals out of the reach of certain statutes? Aside from state laws that may criminalize extreme animal abuse, there are few laws that regulate how farm animals are treated. NO federal law applies to animal welfare in farm production. While many farmers take great care of their animals, sometimes a condition that increases suffering for an animal can increase profits for a farmer and animal welfare has frequently been on the back burner. At Free Range Proteins animal welfare is of the utmost importance!
